I love my life. There I was, sitting on my porch yesterday afternoon as kiddos ran in and out, stopping for a quick hug and chat while I worked, learned, wrote! The best work breaks in the world are those where your child is hugging you, excitably telling you about the latest in nature forts they have built, whilst dirt and sweat run down his sweet face, or when the other one is explaining the incredible success of his latest lemonade stand.
I’m doing what I tell everyone to do- and I’m stopping, and taking the time to enjoy them, love them and truly listen to the awe and wonder they experience each day. They still think I work too much, and that I’m kind of annoying when I ask them to pause at any time in their busy summer days, (for any reason other than a hug, and especially when I ask them to snap a picture of me for my “glob” as my youngest calls it), but that’s ok- I’m here with them, and it’s time I so cherish.
